Terms and Privacy Policy
We strive to keep our community secure and discreet for you and the rest of our members. As with any dating website, there are precautions you can take while using to ensure you are being as safe as possible. Sharing any personal information that can identify you (e.g., your full name, personal email address, phone number, name of your workplace, any social media profile, etc.) could be used maliciously. Ensure you trust any user before sharing information that may be used against you. Do not post photos that are identical or very similar to photos that are available elsewhere (such as on a social media site). These could be used to identify you (for example, using Google’s image search function). Instead, use different photos and/or our fun editing features to mask (perhaps literally!) your identity. Some information, such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, and home addresses, should never be shared. Be suspicious of any user asking for any of this information. Keep your Account Secure Be sure to pick a strong password, and always be careful when logging into your account from a public or shared computer. Before you sign up at, create a separate free email account to use just for our site. Don’t use your personal or work email address if privacy is a concern, and don’t use any part of your name as part of your email address. Gmail or Hotmail offers free email addresses and doesn’t require you to use your home address or phone number to sign up. Create a username that doesn’t identify you in any way. Stay on There are no services offered by that will force you to leave the website. Ashley Madison does not sponsor any services that will have you leave the website, and any user trying to convince you otherwise is acting maliciously. Be Wary of Members that Want to Take your Conversation Somewhere Else Until a comfort level is established between users, we advise members to remain on our site and to use our messaging features to communicate before providing any information to be contacted off our site. Remember that your interactions with other members which take place outside of our website (e.g., via phone calls, video conferences, or in real life) are not interactions that we would be able to monitor or review for suspicious activity. Keep your interactions on our website until you feel you can trust someone to not misuse your information (such as your phone number). Be Wary of Long Distance and Overseas Relationships Watch out for users from long distances away claiming to be from nearby, especially if they are asking for financial assistance or are asking for your personal information. Malicious Emails (Phishing) Ashley Madison never asks for personal information via email or instant message. As with all of the world’s most popular websites, spammers sometimes send fake emails posing as customer service. This is called a “phishing” scam and it’s how fraudsters try to get personal information. Never Send Money or Share Financial Information Never send money or goods to other users, regardless of the situation. Make sure to report any users asking you to send money, goods, or financial information. Requesting money, goods, and financial information is a violation of our Terms and Conditions. All solicitation and commercial use of the platform may be investigated, and appropriate legal action may be taken, including, without limitation, civil, criminal, and injunctive redress. Take Your Time It can be exciting when talking to someone new, but it is important to use your judgment when it comes to sharing your personal information. Take your time to get to know and trust someone before sharing personal details. Report All Suspicious and Offensive Behavior Together, let’s keep safe, secure, and discreet. If you see a user breaking the Code of Conduct, please do not hesitate to report their profile. Some examples of behavior that would be inappropriate are: Requesting a form of compensation Spamming Stalking, harassing, or threatening Impersonating any person or entity To report suspicious or offensive behavior, go to the user’s profile, click on the three dots beside the Key icon, and click on “Report.”
